MORP

MORP
(Prom spelled backwards)

Kevin got asked out to his first high school dance....MORP. It is a casual girl ask guy dance. Their theme was "In the Jungle." His date was picking him up and they would go to her house to make jungle t-shirts. His date was a senior girl. She asked him out a month ago, but she wanted to make sure he could go. He just turned 16. She's a cutie. She is in the Thespian Presidency and over costumes at MVHS. Kevin gets anxious waiting.....
Ruthie came. Nathan made her a map so that she could find our house. She lives in Orem.

This dance the couples weren't getting eachother flowers, but Kevin gave her a rose.
I threw in the bananas sticking with the jungle theme.

Kevin had a great time! He's pretty careful about what he says.
He doesn't want to be teased by his dad - especially at school.

Kevinator

Mountain View High School
Baseball Announcer

Kevin was asked to help announce the baseball games at Mt. View this season. Needless-to-say he is learning the game of baseball. He even got the crowd to start singing, "Take Me Out To The Ball Game." The coaches rolled their eyes and laughed.
"Go Bruins!"

Kyle

Taking Care of Sally

Sunday, April 18th, after church, we were enjoying a sandwich in the beautiful sun on the deck. All of a sudden, Sally whined out a little cry. I think she was stung by a bee - right in the tail. She kept favoring her bum and tail so Kyle wanted her to feel better. He gave her a bath. You can laugh at the following video. I think this shower is pretty creative. Just watch and enjoy.

Family Home Evening

Family Home Evening in the Orchard

For family home evening we joined with the Daniel Family and Hurst Family for a service project. Bill is a home teacher for Brother Foote and always keeps in touch with him and knows how he is doing. Bill has been working on Brother Foote's property and needed our help to pick up some branches, clean some sheds, and clean out the greenhouse. Of course we said we would help. What a wonderful idea. What a great way to help out our neighbor. It is always is a terrific feeling to help a friend. I am so happy we had the chance to be with friends and help out a friend.

We love Brother Foote!!!

Bill Daniel
What a great home teacher!!!
We found all kinds of treasures!
We loaded three trailers. Two for
the green dump and one for thedump-dump.

McKay Daniel and Kevin Hurst show off their branch pile.

Jen and Colton take time to pose and show off their American Gothic.

RaeAnn Hurst and the crew move on to the garden. More branches.

I think Kevin lost something.
Good luck finding it.

Kevin and Bill find more juniper.

Colton did an amazing job trimming the bushes.
He might have a future at Disneyland........
Amberly
and Cammie help clean out the greenhouse. They are always ready for a pose.

Kevin, "Teeny Kev," discovered that there was ground under all those branches. One pile filled up that yellow trailer. We were just hoping there wasn't anything alive under the piles. I poked, prodded, and yelled at the pile just to make sure. After the yelling I could pick up the pile.

Bill, Colton, and McKay posing after an evening of fun.

Nathan and Michael Daniel showing off their muscles. Michael was flexing for this pose.

Seems like yesterday these two were at scout camp.

Notice: Nathan's Head

The other day Nathan was grabbing for our dog, Target, and missed. He slipped, fell, and hit his head on the corner of the table saw. He saw stars. I think he saw the whole universe. He fell towards the kitchen stairs, missed, and landed on the garage floor. He's had a headache for a few days. I'm pretty sure he got a concussion out of that fall.

Hence, the red dot on Nathan's forehead.

Kyle's Play

Bye Bye Birdie
Pleasant Grove Jr. High
March 2010

Kyle was in the jr. high version of Bye Bye Birdie directed by Miss Meacham and staring the incredible students at Pleasant Grove Jr. High School. Kyle played a reporter. I am very proud of him. One night I helped with crowd control back stage and watched him go back and forth, entering and exiting, and changing costumes in between each scene he was involved with. Pretty amazing. This group should be really proud of their performances. The stage was filled with talent.

Earthquake

Last Sunday there was a 7.2 earthquake in Southern California and Mexico.
Uncle Jody and Grandma Katy are fine, but pretty shook up. No pun intended. There were some things damaged, but they are both safe. These are just some pictures that Jody sent today. We pray for their safety.

What in the world?

I saw this as we pulled off the side of the road to let the dogs and humans go potty.
I couldn't believe all the garbage at the top of this summit.
Let's help clean up America!

Spring Break - Capitol Reef

We started heading home, but went the long way. We wanted to see more of Utah.
We went south toward Hanksville and then to Capitol Reef National Park. The park is made of more majestic mountains formed and shaped by the wind. Pretty amazing. We also went through more little towns that most people in Utah have never heard of.

Utah.....it's a great place. WOW!!!!

Spring Break - Temple Mt. Ride

The above pictures are from a couple trail rides we took at Little Wild Horse Canyon. The trail was nice and easy....my kind of trail. One of the rides went around Temple Mountain. It was a beautiful 80 minute ride. Around this mountain were several Uranium mines and dwellings. It was a nice ride before we packed up and headed home.

Spring Break - Little Wild Horse Canyon

Our Campsite

We traveled after Goblin Valley to a canyon towards the west. I think it is called "Little Wild Horse Canyon." We were told that we could camp here and it was free. Yippee! We found an awesome spot. We had this large area all to ourselves. Our truck, fifth-wheel trailer and four-wheeler trailer. What a site we were. Nathan does a great job towing. I don't look.
This was a terrific spot to camp and ride the four-wheelers. The dogs could even run on their own. We did have to tie them up a couple of times because other campers down the road let their dogs run all over. Our dogs at least stayed with us. Yes, this place had great rocks. Kyle made his own fire pit (throne). We found some great rocks to add to our collection. I love the sandstone. I didn't know their were so many colors of brown.

Spring Break - Goblin Valley

GOBLIN VALLEY

Wednesday, April 7th we checked out of Arches Campground and headed toward Goblin Valley.
The state park campground was full, but we still stayed for a while to view the amazing goblins across the land. I've never seen such a site. So fun. We climbed and walked around the area. This would be a fun place to re-visit.

Spring Break - Moab

"OH MY HEC!!!"

Nathan and Kevin went for a early ride on the four-wheelers. Kyle and I stayed at the trailer with the dogs. Then we had some surprising visitors.....The Daniel Troops had arrived. Devin and Michael had their jeeps and wanted us to venture with them on the Moab rocks. Kyle went with them. I waited for Nathan and Kevin to get back from their Gemini Arch trip. Nathan, Kevin and I later met up with Bill, Jen, McKay, Kyle, Devin, Colton, and Michael. I wanted to watch them ride up and down the rocks, but they wouldn't hear of that. They made me get in the jeep. I got in.
We got in the jeeps. Buckled our seat belts and climbed the biggest rocks I've ever seen. My seat belt was very tight. I made sure of it. Nathan, Bill, McKay, and Kyle went in Devin's Jeep. Colton, Kevin, Jen, and I went in Michael's jeep. They wanted me to sit in the front, but I let Colton so he would have leg room. I'm so nice.
The ride was amazing. I don't think I ever stopped talking. Poor Jen. She had to listen to my nervous jabber. Poor Kevin. I had one hand on the hand rest-handle-thing and the other hand grabbing his pant leg. I can't believe that any vehicle can climb and descend like that. How does that work? I don't get it, but I do know we came out of there alive.
This ride was longer than any amusement park ride I've ever been on. But Kyle said it seemed pretty short to him.
WOW!!!

Spring Break - Arches

Arches National Park
Today we explored Arches and then Nathan and Kevin went four-wheeling to find Gemini Arch on a trail just south-west of our camp. These pictures are taken before my camera batteries died. We went to Delicate Arch, but the parking lots were too full so we went on to the observation trail for Delicate. Not as nice, but we still could see it from a distance. Arches National Park is amazing! I wish we spent more time there.

Spring Break Day 2

Heading toward Moab. We had reservations at Arch View Campsite. We stayed here for three nights. Hook-ups - water, power, cable. Heaven....

Spring Break

Day 1 and 2
Green River, Utah

Heading south, thinking we'd be in a warmer place. Well, true....most of the time.
We headed toward Green River on Saturday, April 3rd. We stayed in the KOA. There were hook-ups so we were liv'n in style. We set up camp and then Nathan and the boys found a church to watch the Priesthood session that evening. The camp hosts let us stay after noon so that we could watch conference on Sunday morning.
