Meeting a Few of the Casper Family

New Friends and Family

Dave and Sharon Zabriskie

We had a wonderful weekend meeting new friends and family in Casper, Wyoming. Many of these new faces will be Kristen's new in-laws. She will be able to part of a new and loving family. We were very impressed with the people we met and visited with. We look forward to the many days ahead that we will all get to know each other a little better.

This is Sister McIntosh. For the past year and a half she has shared many meals of love and care with Kristen. We thank her for loving Kristen and feeding her wonderful meals on Sundays while Kristen attends Casper College. We also thank her husband, Mike, for sharing his wonderful cookies. I need his recipe.

This is Kristen's mother-in-law "to-be" Sharon, Heather Zabriskie,
Kristen, Sarah Zabriskie, and Grandma. It was so fun to meet them.
Kristen is in good hands. What a loving group!

The boys went to "Johnny J's" for a treat.
Kevin, Jon, Dave, and Kyle. Nathan is taking the picture.

For the past year-and-a-half Kristen has been very involved in the theatre program in Casper. Here are some of her theatre groupies. Never a dull moment with this crowd. Lots of talent and love in this picture.
Thanks to the Zabriskie family for such a warm welcome. Warm inside. Definitely not outside. Casper was freezing, but the outpouring of love was comforting and endless. Thank you!

Casper College "A Christmas Carol" 2009

"A Christmas Carol"

This is not Scrooge. This is Kristen with Jon after her performance.

Kristen played the part of "Belle",

Scrooge's girlfriend in the Christmas Past segment.

She had a wonderful performance and sang beautifully on her solo.

Halloween Brought a Treat - No Tricks!

Friday, October 30, 2009
We had a visitor from Casper, Wyoming. Kristen brought home a friend.
His name is Jonathon Zabriski.

We had a little visit with this fine fellow late into the evening.

He and Kristen were sitting kind of close......

Klye seemed to really like him.

It's funny how eating together you get to know each other better......

After a long talk with Kristen's dad, Jon had completed part of his mission to Utah.

To make a long story short, Kristen now has a ring on her left finger.

It's not a CTR ring.

We are anxious to get to know Jon better and welcome him into the family.

They are very happy together. A date will be set soon.

.

No TRICKS!

Kyle's Pumpkin

This is Kyle's pumpkin he carved at the MVHS drama Halloween party. He grew this pumpkin in our garden this year.
Even though they are getting older, Kevin and Kyle still managed to get out for trick-or-treating. This is the time of year that candy wrappers seem to appear from no where.....imagine that.

Kev vs. Orem Football - Teachers Quorum

THE BEST TEAM EVER

MVHS's sophomore team had a hard time with Orem, but Kevin had plenty of support from his Pleasant Grove fans. Thanks to the support of his Teachers Quorum, Kevin was able to end the evening with a win. Thanks guys....your the best.

Kev's first Sophomore Game

Mountain View went up to Logan High School for a pre-season game. I was brave and drove 2 hours and made it safely. Well worth the drive. Kevin didn't play the first half so I was a little disappointed, but the second half the coach said, "Kevin get ready to play." He played offense and defense. He assisted with a few tackles and carried the ball a few times. Mountain View won something like 41 - 14. A great way to start the season. GO BRUINS!!!

Uncle Justin Allred met us at the stadium. He only lives a few miles away. He was Kevin's scout master a few years ago. He was proud of Kev, too. I don't know why this turned out blurry. Must have been the altitude.

Kevin was #8. Behind the quarterback (squatting). It's hard to take football pictures. They don't hold still.

The drive home was not fun, but we made it safely around midnight. There is soooo much construction and it was so dark. Imagine that. Kev rode home with me instead of on the bus.
Yes, he fell asleep pretty fast. He had seminary at 6:15 am the next morning. Can't wait 'til the next game.

Uncle Jody

Uncle Jody went on a hike to Yosomite. Looks amazing!

Kevin MVHS Football

Yesterday Kevin got a little taste of a football game. Yesterday there was a dinner and scrimage
He played both offense and defense. It was so fun to yell and scream, " Go Criman!".
Kristen's voice was actually higher than mine.
.Fall is in the air. Kev was #8. This week they will get their official numbers.
Pray he is safe and doesn't get hurt!
August 7th we drove to Logan to visit our friends, Heather, Justin, and Caden Allred. It sure was great to see them and they took great care of us. We enjoyed visiting with them. It was a spontaneous decision and worth the drive. They live on the northeast side of Logan. It was a chilly weekend, but beautiful. We enjoyed the farmer's market, riding on the mountain, and Heather's wonderful meals.
Actually riding their mountain was scary. I'm such a chicken. I sure like having both my feet on the ground, not both wheels in the air. To this day we aren't sure how Justin got his four-wheeler to roll down the mountain. Everyone was safe by the end of our excursion and we enjoyed a wonderful meal Heather prepared for us. Fresh fruit and veges from the market and lasagna. Yum, Yum! How did she get out of that ride?......

Manti 2009

Here are some more fun pictures from the Manti trip in June. Enjoy!!!

Washington Lake 2009

Washington Lake is in the Uinta's. A beautiful part of the Rocky Mountains. It's always fun to get away into the the great outdoors.
Here a just a few of the people joining our camp. I think there were a total of eight families there. A great time was had by all! And yes, there was tons of food.

Nathan brought up his four-wheelers. He found more lakes just by going for rides on the bikes.

Of course the dogs came camping too. We could hardly keep them out of the water. Sally even went over Provo Falls. Got tooo close to the edge. She was gone. RaeAnn thought she was going to have to go after a dead dog. Sally popped up and ran back to the top. A close call. The next day the dogs were very quiet. I think they were sore from their water activities.

Bear Canyon

July 23, 24, 25, 2009

We enjoyed the whole canyon to ourselves. A beautiful spot on the south end of Nebo Loop. Bill took us on a short hike. When I say us - I mean Bill, Kevin Hurst, McKay, Kyle, Nathan, and I. Three hours and four miles later we found our camp. I was sore for days later, but loved the hike....all down hill. We even saw bear poop with ants in it. You know, ants tickle their tummies.

The kids had fun at Bear Canyon. The boys made a little dam. The water was freezing and so they had to show how tuff they were. They had push-up competitions. You'll have to ask them who won. Of course, I think they are all winners or crazy. I soaked my feet in the water for just a few minutes and that's all I could handle. Once again the dogs loved the water.

I hope Nathan enjoyed his birthday. Jennifer even made him a cake. This campout we had some great rain on Friday. I mean hard rain. Good thing for trailers.

4th of July Ride up American Fork Canyon

It was a beautiful morning for a ride up the American Fork Canyon. We took some sandwiches and had a fun little picnic. We drove past Tibble Fork and towards Cascade Springs. I wish we would have had more time. This mountain is amazing. We were about 5 or 6 miles above Tibble Fork.

At one point we found an old graveyard. It was from the late 1800's. There were graves marked with rocks. Most of them were little children. (Double click on the pictures. One picture is the marker of the gravesite.)

American Fork Canyon

After spending all of Saturday doing yard work and building a new gate for our side yard we decided to go for a ride. We went to American Fork Canyon after 7pm, knowing we had just a couple hours of sunlight left for the day. We hitched up the four wheelers and took off. What a beautiful day it had been and the evening was just as great.
These pictures are about 5 miles above Tibblefork Reservoir in American Fork Canyon. The ride was beautiful. The road was narrow, but worth the trip. Nathan and Kevin were on one 4-wheeler and Kyle and I on the other. Kyle was a bit nervous because the road was very narrow in many places. The truth is, I've taken this road before with Nathan and the kids in our old truck. I hated it. It was much nicer on the 4-wheelers. I can't wait to go again.

There use to be a town up here in the good ole days. They did a lot of mining. I can't believe people lived here, so high in the mountains.
It sure is beautiful. One day we will return. Bring a picnic and explore more.

Just for Fun

We have so much fun with friends and family in the mountains. This was our first neighborhood camping trip for 2009. We had a great time in Manti Community Campground. We had seven families join together and enjoy the great outdoors.

We took the four-wheelers and had a great ride up the dirt roads. The view was green and beautiful.

Yes, there were bugs. Kevin was trying to keep off the misquitos. He thought he looked hot. :)

These are good kids. I am so grateful my boys have great friends.

Camping with the Hursts is a tradition. Amberly hadn't arrived yet, but Jeffery, Janna, Cammie, RaeRae, and Kevin were setting up their trailer.

Never Go Hungry

Kyle couldn't be found. Oh....he must be at the lake. He and the other boys were catching fish left and right. Kyle cooked his for Friday night dinner.

Can't get enough Dutch Oven. I made 36 rolls. I didn't plan very well. I should have brought more "frozen" dough. I think there were 38 people at our campground.

Cooking in the trailer worked out great. Kyle even got me to cook him a pizza before we left for home Saturday afternoon.
If you starve at our party it's your own fault.
